Joyce Deliyiannis, Founder and President

Joyce.jpg

Joyce is the founder and president of HELPIS. A native of the island of Crete in Greece, she was raised by a wonderful mother who instilled in her a love of people and a love of life. This, in turn, made her want to be a positive role model for her two daughters, Anna and Christina, a scientist and an educator, respectively.

Joyce has spent her life helping and inspiring others, as a daughter, sister, wife, and mother, but also as a Master Stylist at D’Spa by Dellaria in Burlington, Massachusetts. It was her work as a stylist that allowed her the outlet and audience to create Help Me Help Someone, which helped the unemployed get back on their feet in a time of economic crisis. This was accomplished not just by providing a new look, but by spreading a positive attitude and, using Joyce’s extensive network of friends and clients, often successfully connecting her unemployed clients with employers and job prospects.

Joyce is recipient of numerous awards and honors for her tireless and selfless work to supporting her community. These include the “Outstanding Citizen” Award by the Town of Burlington (2019), the “Community Partnership” Award by the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (2018), the “Massachusetts Unsung Heroines of 2014” Award by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the “Heroes Among Us” Award by Boston Celtics (2012). Joyce’s greatest moment as president of HELPIS was on April 28, 2016 when Governor Charlie Baker signed House Bill No. 2747 officially declaring the month of May “Month of Kindness” in the state of Massachusetts. That day Joyce said: “This wonderful journey started with a spark of kindness. It has grown to a fire of giving that keeps on spreading. And it is deeply rooted in a shared vision among the beloved Board Members of our Organization.” Joyce Deliyiannis lives in Burlington with her husband Stelios.
