Karen Parker Meyers, Director
Karen Parker Meyers was born in raised in Boston’s North End, brought up by parents who taught her the value of family and community.
Karen graduated from Wheelock College with a degree in Early Childhood Education and went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders from Northeastern University. She worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist, specializing in Swallowing Disorders, and worked primarily with a geriatric population.
After her first son was born, Karen made the decision to be a stay-at-home-mom, focusing on raising her two sons, managing the household and volunteering.
Karen volunteered as a Playspace Activity Leader (PAL) at Horizons for Homeless Children, and was a Team Captain for team Miles of Memories for the local American Cancer Society Relay for Life for several years. It was through a mutual friend from Relay that her relationship with Joyce Deliyiannis and HELPIS began. Karen has been volunteering with HELPIS since October 2018 and on the HELPIS Board of Directors since 2019.
